About Groundstate

Groundstate workshop and research

Groundstate Technology LLC is an independent Ohio technology and applied research company developing practical systems across software, engineering, accessibility, scientific tooling, public-data analysis, salvage and reuse, education, and community-scale infrastructure.

Our work starts with a simple operating principle: useful technology should be understandable, testable, repairable, and capable of leaving the screen. We build working prototypes, document what they can and cannot do, invite collaboration where openness improves the work, and keep selected R&D private when security, intellectual property, or safety requires more control.

01

Build

Software, instruments, field tools, workflows, and physical systems designed around real problems.

02

Verify

Separate hypotheses from evidence, prototypes from products, and simulations from validated systems.

03

Share

Open projects, tutorials, source code, files, and lessons when sharing makes the technology more useful.

04

Reuse

Treat discarded machines, materials, data, and overlooked skills as inputs rather than waste.

Groundstate R&D

Groundstate research, engineering and technology projects

Groundstate is not a software company with side projects. It is an applied research and development company using software, engineering, materials science, field systems, salvage, and public-data tools wherever they are useful. The work below ranges from early research concepts to functioning prototypes and active public software.

Decellularization / Recellularization Research

PRE-CLINICAL CONCEPT

Exploratory biomaterials work studying how biological and engineered scaffolds can be decellularized, characterized, and repopulated with defined cell populations. Proposed research includes healthy, cancer, stromal, immune, and endothelial cells to investigate tissue organization, tumor microenvironments, therapy-response models, and regenerative-medicine questions.

LEWEI

CRITICAL MATERIALS

Lake County Critical Materials Recovery Feasibility Initiative. A phased, data-first effort examining whether legacy landfill electronics could become a recoverable domestic feedstock for strategic materials. The current focus is records, site characterization, partner and agency validation, grant alignment, downstream-processing options, and a repeatable county-scale feasibility playbook—not excavation.

Field Infrastructure & Resilience

FIELD SYSTEMS

Low-cost systems for mapping, offline planning, logistics, sensing, local information, and field awareness—especially where connectivity, budgets, or conventional infrastructure are limited. The emphasis is repairability, local operation, reused hardware, and systems that remain useful when cloud services are unavailable.

Materials Recovery & Environmental R&D

SALVAGE / REUSE

Work centered on extracting more value from discarded equipment and materials: salvage cataloging, component recovery, reuse pathways, repairable fabrication, and exploratory passive indicators for chemical exposure, corrosion, pH, and environmental stress.

Accessibility & Human-Centered Systems

APPLIED PROTOTYPING

Projects such as EchoWalk explore whether ordinary phones and inexpensive sensors can provide useful new interfaces for obstacle awareness and spatial feedback. These are experimental prototypes, not certified assistive or medical devices.

Software & Digital Infrastructure

OPEN + CONTROLLED

Software is the connective tissue across much of Groundstate: medical-data research with CareGrid, asteroid/public-data investigation with IuPetra, communications with Ouiji-Chat, media research with SignalWall, maker infrastructure with BonePile, and operational systems such as StaffRoot and TradeRoot.

Research standard: Groundstate distinguishes concepts, prototypes, demonstrations, and validated systems. Early-stage work is presented as early-stage work; clinical, environmental, safety, and performance claims require appropriate testing and independent validation.

Support Groundstate

Groundstate is being built lean. Contributions help pay for hosting, development equipment, test hardware, materials, documentation, software services, field work, and the less glamorous infrastructure that turns prototypes into durable projects.

Support does not purchase equity, ownership, IP rights, governance rights, certification, or special licensing rights unless covered by a separate written agreement.
